It is important that your items are packaged and tagged correctly. This will allow all aspects of the sale to run smoothly and ensure that your items will not get lost or separated during the sale.
- All items should be clean and in usable condition.
- If an item requires batteries to operate, you must include them in your item. Items without working batteries do not sell!
- Make sure that all items have all their pieces, or if not, please indicate the missing pieces on the description area of the tag and price the item accordingly.
- Remember that items sell best when the prices are marked at 25-30% of the retail price!
- All items are subject to inspection by volunteers.
- Items that do not meet the standards set by Everything for Educators may be pulled from the floor and not put up for sale.
- We reserve the right to refuse any item that we feel may not sell.
- Please do not consign anything that you would not want to buy yourself.
Preparing Curriculum, Books, DVD's/Videos, Tapes and CD's:
- Fasten the tags to the books, videos, tapes and CD's using scotch tape.
- Attach the tag in the bottom right-hand corner of these items, so that the title of the materials can still be read.
- Curriculum and books should be organized by subject and grade level.
- Group sets together (for example, a textbook with its corresponding workbook and answer key) and secure all items in one large Ziploc bag with the tag attached to the outside of the bag. On your tag, please write down the name of all items included in the Ziploc bag. This will keep multiple items from being lost.
Preparing Teaching Tools, Games, Toys, Day Care Equipment and Small/Odd Shaped Items:
- If the item is oddly shaped or does not lend itself to being tagged the same method as books (as listed above), you can punch a hole through the consignor tag and attach the tag with string, rubber bands or zip ties. Our preferred method is to use as zip tie, as rubber bands or string may break.
- Packing tape can also be used to help secure the tag to the items.
- Secure all small items in a zip-lock bag and attach those items to the larger item using packing tape or multiple rubber bands.
- If selling wooden puzzles, please secure a tight layer of cellophane around the front of the puzzle, securing it with tape in the back. Then place the puzzle in a Ziploc bag. This will ensure that the puzzle pieces do not come loose during the sale.
Preparing Math Manipulatives and Special Educ. Materials:
- Place manipulatives and other small items in Ziploc bags, with the tag affixed to the outside, bottom right hand corner of the bag.
- Make sure that you use packing tape to reinforce the top of your Ziploc bag so that no bags become accidentally opened and items get lost during the sale.
- Be specific in identifying the items included in the description portion of your tag. Detailed information will help shoppers determine if they can use the materials and will keep them from opening your packages.
Science Kits, Art and Crafts Materials, Puzzles, Board Games, and Any Other Items in a Box:
- Place one or two rubber band around each side of the outside of the item to ensure that items do not fall out.
- It is best to pack all materials in the original boxes that came with the item. If this is not possible, make sure you attach a picture on the outside of the box showing what is inside, or list the items on the top of your box or on your consignor tag, so that all people know what is inside.
- If you “show" buyers what is inside they will be more apt to purchase the item.
- If items are properly labeled, you can also tape the box closed with packing tape for extra security.
PE Equipment, Musical Instruments, Outdoor Equipment and Other Large Items:
- If possible, attach your consignor tag on the most visible spot for buyers to see while standing in front of the item.
- Use packing tape to attach your consignor tag to the item.
- If the item has an area to attach a zip tag, you may attach your consignor tag to that area of the item using the zip tag. It is BEST to attach your tags directly to the item with strong packing tape so that the tags are not lost.
- If there are multiple pieces being sold together, make sure you secure small items to the largest item using Ziploc bags and packing tape.
- For balls and things of that nature that are prone to roll, place those items in the XL Ziploc bags that can be purchased at Wal-Mart and other stores to ensure that they do not move during the sale.
- If you consign outdoor equipment, we do ask that you assemble it on site during drop-off, as they sell quickly when shoppers can see all pieces put together.
- For other PE Equipment with multiple pieces in a bag, attaching a picture of that item in use will often help the shoppers imagine how they could use the items as well. Attach pictures on the outside of your package with packing tape-do not block the consignor tag!
Sheet Music:
- Put all sheet music in a large Ziploc bag with a tag taped to the bottom right hand corner of the bag that list all music inside.
School Uniforms:
- Make sure that all clothing has been washed and ironed before hanging on the hanger.
- Use only child-size hangers for items.
- All clothing must be hung on the hanger with the “hook" facing to the left, so that it looks like a question mark from the front side where the tag is located. (Look below for example).
Classroom Helpers:
- Make sure the items are properly cleaned and disinfected if needed.
- If possible, attach your consignor tag on the most visible spot for buyers to see while standing in front of the item.
- Use packing tape to attach your consignor tag to the item.
- Rugs must be in excellent condition, rolled up, taped securely at multiple spots with a picture of the rug on the outside above the consignor tag.
- Shelving units should be assembled on-site to ensure that all pieces are there.
